Meet the owners of Auberoche campsite in Dordogne

We are Christèle and Christophe, the new owners of Camping d’Auberoche since December 2022. Originally from the Loire-Atlantique region of France, we decided to give a new direction to our professional and personal lives by realizing our dream of taking over a campsite. Christèle, a former self-employed midwife, and Christophe, a former campsite manager, have put our skills, but above all our determination and energy, to good use in creating a natural, family-friendly and soothing environment.

Discover the history of Auberoche campsite in the Dordogne

Camping d’Auberoche was created in 1980 on farmland formerly attached to Château du Roc, just a few hundred meters from the campsite. This small campsite on the banks of the Auvézère river in the Dordogne was founded by an enthusiast who discovered this corner of paradise near Périgueux. The commune of Le Change, rich in old stones, is home to castles and ancient dwellings, and the Auberoche chapel, proudly anchored to its rock, overlooks the campsite. The surrounding ruins are the last vestiges of the Auberoche fortress, which belonged to the Counts of Périgord and suffered during the Hundred Years’ War.

Evolution and development of camping Familial

From its modest beginnings with 40 bare pitches, Camping d’Auberoche has gone from strength to strength. The former owners, driven by a convivial family spirit, have gradually enriched the campsite. They added 5 gîtes and a swimming pool, offering visitors even more comfort and entertainment. Over time, mobile homes, converted tents and self-catering chalets were added to the rental offer, meeting the varied needs of campers. These improvements have enabled the campground to attract a diversified clientele, seeking both relaxation and discovery in a preserved natural setting.

Local heritage and historical appeal

Camping d’Auberoche enjoys an exceptional location in the center of the Dordogne, near Périgueux, on the border of the Périgord Blanc, Vert and Noir regions. This unique location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the region. The commune of Le Change, with its noble haunts, châteaux and ancient residences, offers a setting rich in history. The Auberoche chapel and fortress ruins add a special charm to the campsite, immersing it in a fascinating medieval past. By staying here, visitors can immerse themselves in local history while enjoying the magnificent scenery and outdoor activities.

Today’s commitment to a friendly, natural campsite

Since taking over Camping d’Auberoche in 2022, we, Christèle and Christophe, are committed to perpetuating the friendly family spirit established by the founders. We’re doing everything we can to improve this natural, rural setting, bordered by the Auvézère river. Our aim is to make the campsite a must for your vacations in the Dordogne. We invest in modern infrastructure while preserving the authenticity and natural beauty of the site. Every year, we reflect on new improvements to offer our visitors an unforgettable experience.

Our commitment to nature and the environment is reflected in our eco-responsible practices and our particular attention to preserving this magnificent setting. We want every visitor to feel the serenity and conviviality that are the essence of Camping d’Auberoche. In addition to our efforts to improve the facilities, we regularly organize activities and entertainment to strengthen the community spirit among our campers.

We have also developed partnerships with local producers to offer regional products to our visitors, contributing to the local economy and providing an authentic Dordogne experience. These initiatives reflect our desire to create a campsite where life is good, in harmony with nature and local culture.
